A Feel Good Punk Song

Project: No Rhymes, "A Night of Complete Horrorshow"

You cannot prove that you are real
You can't know just what I feel
You lack definite perspective
Go ahead and define the prescription

(drop an octave)
It's economical
It's all political
The truth that they try to hide
The shackles are in your mind

You forget your bravery
You forget you're the missing link
Nevermind their messages
Just stayed glued to your televisions

(chorus)

All your favorite tunes
All your favorite shows
Mass produced fashions
Acceptable by the

CORPORATE MEDIA SHIIIIIILLS

All your favorite songs
All your faved beliefs
Mass produced fascism
Acceptable by the

CORPORATE MORAL WATCHDOOOOGS

(bridge)

You disapprove of reality
You plug up your ears and scream
Logic and reason mean nothing
You'd rather be safe in your beliefs

(drop an octave)
Comfort and safety in your dreams
All is not as what it seems
Vapid attention is what you seek
Your mistakes your children will have to reap

You cannot prove that you are real
You can't know just what I feel
You lack definite perspective
Go ahead and define the prescription

(chorus)

All your favorite tunes
All your favorite shows
Mass produced fashions
Acceptable by the

CORPORATE MEDIA SHIIIIIILLS

All your favorite songs
All your faved beliefs
Mass produced fascism
Acceptable by the

CORPORATE MORAL WATCHDOOOOGS

  1. I could actually imagine how this would sound; I've read in your first post that No Rhymes is a project that will kind of not be part of a music genre, right?
I like the idea, but for some reason the lyrics remind me of those political punk-rock bands; anyway, I really liked them. Especially this part:
    "Logic and reason mean nothing
You'd rather be safe in your beliefs"
It kind of defines our today's society - the people who are blinded by religion being the best example.
    Keep up the good work!

  2. @Escapist - yeap, No Rhymes is supposed to be undefined and without a genre, just a bunch of idiots dressed snazzily and doin' music. Hell, if we wanna do Rod Stewart we'll belt it out, y'knowwhatImean?

You'll find that a lot of my music, whether it be No Rhymes, my main band, or anything else I do has anywhere from a delicious hint to outright overpowering amounts of socio-political activism.

Which is why I hate Bono so fucking much. All that money from U2, all that coverage and the best he can do is whine about how kids are dying in Africa? Motherfucker, DO something with your power! Make a fucking difference, actually go out there with a few bands of mercenaries and attempt to stop the genocide in Uganda, y'knowwhatImean?

Whining about it ain't gonna help nothin'. Awakening people, making them aware of what's bein' done to them, THAT changes the game.

And yeap, that particular couple of lines are a direct bust to the chops of those who have held back civilization and scientific progress, claiming to do it out of moral and ethics when they're doing it out of pure greed and misguided beliefs.

Punk music is self-destructive, that's true (not even of the G.G. Allen sort, but there's that too) but until it finally detonates and sells out to The Man it should take a violent, vicious stand against something. The best punk bands are congruent with certain government movements and figureheads, check it out yourself if you don't believe me.

ESPECIALLY Reagan and Nixon. They both helped bring out the rage of many a punk band in their time. Hell, Reagan even pissed off Genesis...and while that's not inexactly a fearful thing, it's certainly notable!

    I'm just sayin'...

  3. Haha, I like the idea; I mean I don’t know why people feel the need to put an etiquette on everything. Why can’t music just be music? Why do you have to like a genre and automatically hate the other?
I’m totally for what you’re saying. And there are a whole bunch of other people out there (not just Bono and U2) who have the power to change something, but instead of doing that, they’d rather hold motivational speeches and crap like that.
I’ve said this before and I’m sticking with it: people don’t like their life, they complain about it, but when it comes to making a change for better, they’d rather be miserable than act.
Where's the logic in that, I don't know..

  4. @escapist - gah, now I HAVE to really buckle down and get that friggin' jamspace, cut this demo and post shit up!

    :D Thaaaanks for that.

Still, it's good to see that we're both of the same mind when it comes to music and genres and such. Mind you, my main band is subscribing to the idea that we play Heavy Metal, Hard Rock as well as Punk...but that's only because of A) our storyline and B) it's what I dig the most when it comes to my music.

But I also got these other songs, y'know? That just don't fit in anywhere...so what should I do with them?

Since I don't wanna sell 'em or whateverhaveyou, I'd rather just run with the ball. I'm that kinda guy.

AL-SOOOOOO, I'm actually going to be replacing two songs on my main band's Internet Terrorists album with this one and The Happening. Before you ask why, it's 'cuz I have this amazing stage idea for 'em, and both revolve around a...well, you'll see~!

I'll be postin' 'em up eventually if you wanna check 'em out then, yah?
